Tigers Finished Runners-Up at SuperClubs!

Team Chicago Academy-Tigers had a great weekend at the SuperClubs tournament in Rockford. They got off to a great start Saturday with a 2-1 win over IFC Fusion with goals from Lauren Tarapchak and Shannon Molloy.

The second game was much harder fought but the defense stayed strong, and it was enough to hold a shutout with the winner scored by Emily Curtis.

On Sunday the last round-robin game was for a spot in the finals. The opponent was a familiar Fox Valley Strikers team, who beat the Tigers earlier in the season. However, this time the Tigers would not be denied, and Chauntelle Johnson’s kept another clean sheet in goal as Shannon Molloy got the game-winner with her second of the weekend, and Kristen Eichamer finished them off with a nice free kick to win 2-0.

The final was played against a fast and well-organized Cary Defenders team that proved to be too much to handle. As stubborn as the defense was, Cary was still able to score 4 times while allowing the Tigers only a few chances in each half and no goals.

Over the weekend, the Tigers showed off their impressive all-round ability with 7 different players playing defense, a plethora of midfield combinations, and goals coming from all three tiers of the field.
